Lassen Volcanic is one of the oldest and most primitive national parks. Because of that, the park is mostly made up of unspoiled wilderness. It is famous for boiling mud pots and active volcanoes, and of course has great campgrounds!

These family friendly campsites are situated along pretty Summit Lake. Because of this campground's central location in the park, you don't have to drive far to see the many sights of Lassen Volcanic National Park.

This is a large, pretty campground in the north part of the park with all the amenities you would need for a long stay. Manzanita Lake has many fun outdoor activities including boating and hiking. This campground also has popular cabin rentals. It is a 30 minute drive to the many sights of central Lassen Volcanic National Park

What To Do In The Park
Sights
A short boardwalk leads to loud boiling mud pots and a small steaming creek that sends up occasional bursts of boiling water.
This 10,000 foot tall mountain peak is all that's left over after the 1915 eruption. That's why there's no vegetation in this part of the park. There are multiple viewing areas but the view from Manzanita Lake is the best.
Manzanita Lake is one of the prettiest lakes in California thanks to its incredible views of Lassen Peak. It offers boating, hiking and camping.
Hikes
This easy, 3 mile trail leads to the Bumpass Hell area. There, you can see boiling mud pots, fumaroles, steaming springs and bubbling pools.
This 5 mile strenuous trail climbs 2,000 feet to reach the top of Lassen Peak. The entire trail has incredible views
This moderate, 4 mile trail climbs up the Cinder Cone volcano for amazing views of the inside of the volcano. Note: This trail is in the remote eastern section of the park and will require an hour's drive from the rest of the park.
